Science has shown that appreciation of the beauty of maths activates the same parts of the brain as, say, appreciation of the beauty of music or the arts. I write some poetry; I do paint at times, and the feeling of joy is the same. So I would proclaim “Mathematics is poetry”, albeit a very stringent poetry.
The same is true about physics and, in my particular case, electronics. The feeling of excitement when solving a problem is the same as finding the right word in a poem, or the right spot that makes your painting balanced but yet challenging to your mind.
The Romantic and the Scientist share an important property – they both search for the genuine. Either the genuine feeling or the genuine truth, and, at best, these two do coincide.
This site is trying to reach that: That which is true and beautiful.
